Welcome to RGC Tax & Estate Solutions, PLLC a law firm specializing in the areas of tax, business planning, estate planning, and probate.
Life is a terminal condition. Believe it or not, there will be a time when the world goes on without you. If you want to make a difference beyond your years then you need to have an estate plan that is customized to meet your posthumous goals and your family’s continuing needs.
Our philosophy is that estate planning is your blank canvas upon which to paint your legacy. Remember, you control your body and your assets and by completing an estate plan, you are simply leaving instructions for the care and disposition of both when you die. There are many details to consider and a wide range of tools available to you in creating a comprehensive estate plan.
We understand that each estate situation, and every family, is unique. Take a moment and think of your family. Is this your first marriage? Your spouse’s first marriage? Biological children? Step-children? Adopted children? Children with special needs? Pets? What types of assets do you own? Real estate? Life insurance? Retirement accounts? Own a small business? Now can you think of another family that is EXACTLY like your own? The answer is likely “no”. It is essential to utilize the counsel and resources of a qualified professional who understands the many laws affecting testamentary transfers. We customize our services to fit your specific estate planning needs.
There are few words in the English language that create as much fear and apprehension as the word “probate”. Perhaps only “shark” or “audit” have stronger negative connotations.
In reality, probate is simply a court proceeding to transfer legal title of a decedent’s assets to his/her heirs. Probate is necessary to: (i) determine if the decedent had a will; (ii) pay or resolve the decedent’s debts and final expenses; and (iii) distribute the decedent’s remaining assets to his/her heirs. Probate can be a very simple process; however, there are two (2) things that can derail a smooth probate proceeding: (i) extensive creditor claims against the estate; or (ii) disputes between or among the heirs as to the distribution of the estate’s assets.
Unfortunately, many people fail to establish an estate plan and loved ones frequently find themselves in a state of confusion after a family member passes away. RGC Tax & Estate Solutions, PLLC can assist in navigating the challenges of the probate process.
